The Power of Gratitude

There are a couple of reasons that I find gratitude to be so powerful. One is because it makes me turn my focus to something positive rather than the problem than I am facing and I can feel an immediate shift in my energy. For example, when my father was diagnosed with cancer and then died from it three years ago I experienced a wide range of emotions. I had never lost anyone that close to me so it was all new to me. I looked for the things to be grateful for. What I found is that I was so grateful that I had the years with him that I did, that he was great father and I loved him very much.

I found myself on an emotional roller coaster and the times when I looked to gratitude were the ones that felt more peaceful.

A second reason I find gratitude so powerful is that it takes me out of the cycle of doom and gloom and moves me into looking at the possibilities and then hope arises and again my energy shifts towards looking at what I want to feel like or do rather than what I can't do or feel like. It starts the process of moving me forward into a more positive space which results in taking action.
