Marriage Counseling Video

Marriage Counseling Video

In my domestic violence classes, I help both the men and the women who are court ordered to my classes understand the difference between power and control behaviors and offering choice, which is the opposite of domestic violence.

That understanding is key to marriage counseling videos for domestic violence.

I also teach about the skills involved in creating a relationship, like listening and assertive communication and I use the John and Julie Scwartz Gottman model called The Art and Science of Love, because it has lots of paper and pencil exercises that a couple can do together, and videos to watch.

The Gottman's talk a lot about the skills that the Masters of Marriage display, including nurturing positive feelings, and using repair phrases.

While the Gottman's tell us to nurture positive feelings, they do not explain in any detail how to do that, or how often we need to do that.

My feelings can change, based on what I am paying attention to and the thoughts I am creating about what I am paying attention to, in as little as 1/45th second according to neuroplasticity expert Michael Merzenich,Ph.D., which is about four times faster than I can blink my eyes.

I need to learn nurture positive feeling skills that operate at the speed of my central nervous system.

There are two skills that work that fast, one is deep breathing, which few of us practice with any great regularity, and the other is HeartMath, which is a program I practice, until I have learned it, on my PC.

Heart intelligence, which is what I tap with HeartMath, is an affiliative and cooperative intelligence, which I can keep going for a long time, if I want to.

Here are a couple of marriage counseling videos.

There are something like 450 different models of counseling and/or psychotherapy. Of that number, perhaps 10-15 models enjoy any professional support or research credibility.

However, every one of those models involves your brain.

How is Your Attention? Try Your Hand at the Stroop Test.

To test your attention using the stroop test, read the color the word is printed in rather than the text of the word. So the text could be the word red, but if the word red is printed in blue, then the correct response if blue.

Replacement Parts for Your Brain?

Neurogenesis is the term used to describe the recently discovered capacity of the human brain to grow new neurons.

That is right, our brain is not physically fixed, it is constantly changing, losing some neurons, growing some neurons, making or deleting connections, and we can encourage that growth by attending to the Pillars Of Brain Fitness.

Those pillars are;

Physical Exercise

Nutrition
