For counseling services in rockford, please give Mike Logan, M.S. a call. I am currently providing Anger Management education to court ordered folks from Winnebago and neighboring counties.
You do not have to be court ordered to participate though.
I am licensed one on one Heartmath provider, and Heartmath heart rate variability biofeedback training is a tool which has significant benefits for any kind of therapeutic experience or life skills training or peak performance kinds of work.
In fact, I have used it with hundreds of domestic violence and anger management clients with excellent results.
Other Heartmath providers use the training with professionals in all walk of life, from Doctors to professional golfers.
You would certainly want your Doctor to be relaxed when performing surgery, right?
Well, Heartmath is powerful tool, easy to learn, easy to implement once learned, that can provide you with excellent relaxation skills heart beat by heart beat.
Do you have children who are taking the ISAT's at their school, or perhaps they are preparing for the ACT or SAT. Heartmath is a great tool to help them relax while taking those exams.
The Heartmath process actually opens the higher perceptual centers of the brain for effective problem solving, while stress hormones that come with pushing for more, better scores actually narrow you focus and decrease your performance.
I have used Heartmath training for couples sent to me for domestic violence education. I teach each of them the process individually, then bring them together to work on the heart beat of the relationship.
The heart beat of the relationship is separate from their individual heart beats and one person impacts that relationship coherence within 1/18th second in either a coherent or incoherent direction. The couple quickly learns that their 'relationship heartbeat' needs to be attended to frequently or it gets really incoherent.
To purchase Heartmath for your own use, please follow the link in the column to the right.
If you are curious about recent research in the use of computerized brain fitness programs, I have used four of them, and can coach you in the concept of brain fitness.
For example, the Mind Sparke Brain Fitness Pro is a tool which has documented proof, using IQ tests, of improved IQ scores.
While improved IQ is not the only thing necessary for fame and fortune in our Western culture, it sure does help. The initial Mind Sparke practice is about 1/2 hour per day, for 19 days.
The creator, Martin Walter, is about to come out with version 2, so the research and improvements continue. Using Mind Sparke involves an audio cue and a visual cue and requires that you remember the sequence for a set number of trials, and is a bit disconcerting at first, but then when you catch on, and get it, and see your score go up, it is quite an exciting experience
Are you a Senior Citizen wondering about brain fitness, neuroplasticity, and neurogenesis?
Or maybe you have never heard of those terms.
Well, withing the last 10-12 years, there have been some very interesting discoveries about the human brain.
We grow new brain cells every day, so that old neuroscientific dogma about your brain being set at about age five and then just deteriorating until the inevitable happens is false.
You can enhance the growth of new neurons, called neurogenesis and the formation of new connections between neurons, called neuroplasticity every day if you choose to take care of the pillars of brain fitness, explained so well in this book, Brainfit for Life by Simon Evans, Ph.D. and Paul Burghardt,Ph.D. who are neuroscientists at the University of Michigan.
The pillars that they say we need to attend to are physical exercise, nutrition including lots of omega 3 fatty acid, stress management (see Heartmath), sleep, and novel learning experiences, which does include the use of computerized brain fitness programs, like Mind Sparke, the Posit Science Brain Fitness Program, and Lumosity.
The Posit Science tools have been researched in two large studies of Senior Citizens, older than Boomers), the IMPACT and the ACTIVE studies, which are very interesting reading.

When I was beginning my personal growth journey, a wise person told me that when I was feeling resentful or afraid or sad, that I should remember the phrase "gratitude is the attitude" when I was ready to feel better. That phrase has helped me feel better tens of thousands of times.
Would you share what you are most grateful for? Your story could be just what another person is searching for to renew themselves? Thanks.
