What Do You Do, Mike?
I am glad you asked that question. I provide a number of services which are very complementary to Julie's psychotherapy, including Heartmath biofeedback training and personal coaching in brain fitness. Didn't know your brain could be worked out like your bicep? More on that below.
If you are looking for anger management services for court ordered participants, then I am your guy.
I am a licensed one on one Heartmath provider, which is an extraordinary biofeedback stress management tool that I have used with my court ordered folks since 2001.
Heartmath training is not offered by anyone else in the counseling Rockford or State Line area that I am aware of.
The easily learnable Heartmath process allows us to access our hearts intelligence (you knew your heart had its own nervous system, right, and that your heart had neurons in it, enough neurons that it could learn and make decisions?)which is an affiliative and cooperative intelligence on a heart beat by heart beat basis.
In other words, I have the option to manage a very important physiological process, the time between my heartbeats, so I can change my stress to relaxation heart beat by heart beat if I want.

I like to tell my anger management folks that we have somewhere between 1/45th to 1/18th second to manage our physiology, which is roughly 2 to 4 times as fast as we can blink our eyes.
Sometimes those decisions can change the course of our lives. For example, I may date a person for years, without saying the words "I love you", and when I decide to say those words, the course of my life changes, so the change happens before I even speak.
